Answer

We are both pro-union and pro-reform. We believe, like most teachers (according to the Primary Sources poll by Scholastic, Inc.), that not all reforms are equal. Many “reform” policies have been implemented unilaterally, without the input of the most important stakeholders — the teachers themselves.

However, many of these same policies, guided by the leadership of educators themselves, would produce tangible improvement in the lives and careers of teachers, in turn leading to better schools and better student outcomes.
